St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas is seeking applications for a full-time, tenure-track Associate Professor-level position beginning August of 2019 in the Department of Exercise and Sport Science. This position requires a Ph.D. in Exercise and Sport Science or a related field, and a commitment to excellence in teaching, research, program development and evaluation, teamwork, and service.


The Exercise and Sport Science Department ( is located within the School of Humanities and Social Sciences and is one of the larger majors with over 100 students pursuing either a bachelor's or a bachelor's with teacher certification.


The department seeks applicants with strengths in Anatomy and Physiology, Advanced Therapeutic Exercise, Biomechanics, and/or Prevention and Care of Activity-Related Injuries to support students seeking health-related professions. Experience in and capacity for departmental leadership is preferred. It is expected that the successful candidate will engage in teaching, advising and mentoring the department's majors, assisting with the revision of the curriculum to address future directions, including new courses, student interests for graduate study, and teacher education for state certification, scholarly activity, and University and community service. The candidate will have earned a Ph.D. in Exercise and Sport Science or a terminal degree in a related health discipline (i.e., D.P.T., D.O.T); support the Marianist vision of education; show evidence of high quality classroom performance; and relate well to students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the greater university community.
