Assists the Director of Budget in the daily management of the accounting operations by preparing and analyzing financial transactions and working with other departments to audit financial documents for accuracy and completeness.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Performs accounting work to include the recording, examining, and analyzing of financial records, documents or reports.
  • Prepares and analyzes financial transactions. Works with departments to audit accounting and financial documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Posts and processes journal entries to ensure all business transactions are properly recorded.
  • Audits employee credit card statements, checking for proper documentation/receipts and validation of business purpose.
  • Understands the University's purchasing, credit card and travel policies and procedures.
  • Assists in the fixed assets program, maintaining up-to-date fixed asset records and performs physical inventory.
  • Provides assistance and training for credit card requirements to the university community.
  • Analyzes and prepares account reconciliations. Performs advanced assignments and serves as a resource to recognize, investigate, and resolve outstanding items through entries, meetings, correspondence, corrections, and follow-up. Works with others to resolve issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting preferred. Additional education and or higher education experience may be considered in lieu of bachelor's degree.


EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, financial reporting, and/or financial systems. Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint). Excellent accounting and reconciliation skills and ability to multi-task. Ability to communicate effectively and work with diverse University personnel.




PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Sedentary work. Must be able to operate computer keyboard and ten key calculator by touch.
