The Department of Economics, St. Mary's University, San Antonio, Texas, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position starting Fall 2019. Of particular interest are applicants with specializations in the fields of international economics, border economics (with a focus on the U.S.-Mexico border), and complexity economics. Suitable candidates must possess teaching experience, including a strong willingness to work closely with students, and proven research potential in at least one of the aforementioned fields. A Ph.D. in economics, political economy, or related degree is strongly preferred; ABD with expected degree completion date within twelve months of the start of the position will be considered. Education and/or work experience in a foreign country is preferred.

Teaching duties will include four courses per semester. The candidate will be expected to teach introduction to microeconomic theory, introduction to macroeconomic theory, intermediate microeconomic theory, international economics, border economics, complexity economics, history of economic thought, and other courses as needed or desired. Heterodox theories will need to be integral components of all of these courses. Research in at least one of these fields will also be required.
