The Computer Science Department at St. Mary's University of San Antonio, a Catholic and Marianist university, invites nominations and applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science beginning in the fall semester of 2019.

 

The department (https://www.stmarytx.edu/academics/department/computer-science/) offers undergraduate degrees in Computer Science, Computer Science/Application Systems, and Computer Information Systems along with master's programs in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, and Cybersecurity. The department has four full-time faculty members and approximately 100 undergraduate and graduate students. The department is located within the School of Science, Engineering and Technology (https://www.stmarytx.edu/academics/set/), which has six departments, about 950 undergraduate and graduate students, and 77 faculty and staff members. The school has seen significant growth over the past six years and is poised to continue its growth consistent with the SET Vision and the University's strategic plan Gateway: A Vision for St. Mary's University (https://www.stmarytx.edu/about/gateway-strategic-plan/).

 

The department seeks faculty candidates with interests and expertise in artificial intelligence (AI), augmented reality/virtual reality (AR/VR), cloud computing, cybersecurity, data science, and other emerging areas in computer science, along with the ability to teach computer science courses across the department. This position requires a Ph.D. in computer science or a closely-related discipline and a commitment to excellence in teaching, advising, research, program development and evaluation, teamwork, and service.
