The Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Connections Developer will work with students, faculty, and academic partners to oversee the placement of STEM students into projects outside of the university. The Connections Developer also works with academic partners at local 2-year colleges to improve the transfer of STEM students to StMU. The Connections Developer will be able to work independently, and demonstrate the ability to measure and document progress towards grant objectives. The position will be institutionalized, remaining at StMU as full time staff after grant funding ends. During the project, the Connections Developer will report to the Activity Coordinator and then the Project Director. Approved in 2016, 12 months, Year 1-5.



  • Lead development of system for connecting STEM students to research positions, industry projects, internships;
  • Act as liaison among community, StMU academic partners, and STEM students;
  • Work with the Alamo Community College District (ACCD) and StMU staff to oversee design/piloting of STEM transfer services


SUPERVISION: This position reports to the Activity Coordinator and then the Project Director., HSI-STEM Grant


EDUCATION:      Master's degree in STEM discipline required



  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a STEM-related industry;
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively;
  • Excellent communication and organization skills;
  • Familiarity with STEM industry in South Texas region, preferred
