The Department of Computer Science at St. Mary's University in San Antonio, a Catholic and Marianist university, invites nominations and applications for a full time, tenure-track assistant professor position in the Department of Computer Science beginning in the fall of 2023 or spring of 2024. The department seeks faculty candidates with interests and expertise in data science, artificial intelligence/machine learning, natural language processing, and/or cybersecurity (cyber policy and law, digital forensics, intrusion analysis, Linux/Solaris/Unix, malware analysis, penetration testing, risk management, scripting, software security, wireless security), and/or other emerging areas in computer science such as AR/VR. In addition, the candidate should have the ability to teach computer science courses across the department such as programming one in C, data structures in C, object-oriented programming in C++ and in Java, algorithms, systems analysis and design, operating systems, and database. This position requires a minimum of a doctorate in computer science or a closely related discipline and a commitment to excellence in teaching, research, program development and evaluation, teamwork, and service. ABD candidates with an expected completion date within one year of appointment will be considered.

The department ( offers undergraduate degrees in Computer Science, Computer Science/Application Systems, Computer Information Systems and a teaching certificate, along with master's programs in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, and Cybersecurity. The department currently has three full-time faculty members and approximately 130 undergraduate and graduate students.
