The Greehey School of Business at St. Mary's University, a premier institution, invites applications for a tenure-track position starting August 1, 2023. Candidates will be considered for appointment at the Assistant or Associate rank, based on achievements and experience. An endowed NuStar Professorship may be available for qualified candidates at the Associate rank or for those at the Assistant rank with established experience and a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching, research or service.


Candidates should hold or be near completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in Accounting from an AACSB accredited university. Preference will be given to candidates able to teach across multiple instructional modalities at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and who demonstrate an interest in and the capacity to conduct quality scholarly research. The successful candidate will be expected to teach in more than one of the following areas including: intermediate accounting, advanced accounting, auditing, accounting information systems and governmental and not-for profit accounting. Although not required, professional certifications in accounting are preferred. A commitment to service is expected including advising to students, and experience with VITA is a plus.


The position is housed in the Department of Accounting in the Greehey School of Business. The Department serves two majors, accounting and accounting and data analytics. Faculty in the department also teach core courses common to all business majors. At the graduate level, faculty members provide instruction to students enrolled in the School's MBA program. Successful faculty members maintain a balanced portfolio of teaching, research, and service and are open to interaction with industry and the profession.


The Greehey School of Business is AACSB accredited. It offers a BBA with majors in Accounting, Accounting and Data Analytics, Finance and Risk Management, Management, Marketing, and International Business as well as an MBA. Class sizes are small with an average faculty to student ratio of 1:17. San Antonio is one of the top ten fastest growing cities in the country with the San Antonio-Austin corridor described as the "New Major Metropolis" by major news media. The School has an excellent reputation for academic quality and has a very successful alumni base that is engaged with the School and the University.
