St. Mary's University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology beginning August 2022 for a two-year appointment - with opportunity for one-year renewal thereafter. Candidates for the position should have a PhD or PsyD in Psychology, preferably in clinical psychology, school psychology, counseling psychology, or a related psychological discipline. The doctoral degree must be from an accredited institution. ABD candidates who are expected to receive the doctorate within 12 months of the start of the appointment will be considered.


The successful candidate will be expected to teach four classes in the fall semesters and four classes in spring semesters within the undergraduate program that has a strong empirical emphasis, supervise undergraduate research, maintain an active research program in his/her area of expertise, and teach in our certificate programs. The ideal candidate will be qualified to teach courses in abnormal psychology, physiological psychology, statistics, and research methods. Candidates able to contribute to diverse courses in the Psychology core and to develop/teach new electives are especially desired. Additional duties include holding office hours and advising students. The Department of Psychology offers the BA in Psychology and certificates in Dual Teaching (graduate-level) and Community Based Assessment and Evaluation (CBAE - undergraduate and graduate level). The department includes four-full time, tenured faculty, is committed to excellence in teaching and scholarship, and is actively involved in mentoring and supporting student research.
