This position serves as a member of the enrollment management team and incorporates a full range of admission responsibilities including extensive recruitment travel, interviewing, and presentation of the University to various constituencies in multiple formats, personalized contact with prospective students, parents, and guidance counselors, and evaluation of applications for admission.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Visit secondary schools, community colleges and other educational institutions within assigned territory as appropriate based on review of historical and market data and input from supervisor.
  • Represent the University at on- and off-campus admission-related programs and events.
  • Review applications for admission, analyze qualifications and exercise judgment of admissibility.
  • Conduct interviews with prospective students and parents, providing accurate information regarding admission standards, academic and related programs, student life, cost and financial aid.
  • Implement follow-up activities including written and electronic correspondence and telephone calls.
  • Plan and execute special projects in conjunction with the goals and objectives of the office.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness, assess outcomes, complete cost analyses and develop improved programming to achieve goals.
  • Assist and participate with other staff members having special project responsibilities for the coordination of activities designed to accomplish established enrollment objectives.


EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree required.


EXPERIENCE: Previous admission, student services, or public relations experience preferred.



  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to efficiently and effectively solve problems and initiate and implement projects independently.
  • Proficiency with productivity software including Microsoft products, and technical aptitude.
  • Proficient with computer software: Word; Excel; Microsoft Outlook.
  • Must have valid driver's license, motor vehicle liability insurance and personal injury insurance; or have a self-reliant source of transportation to conduct business on a daily basis
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
  • Must clear and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance


PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing this role, the employee will be regularly required to sit, walk, and stand; talk and hear, both in person and by telephone; and use hands repetitively to operate standard office equipment; and occasionally required to lift up to 40 pounds. Must be a licensed driver of an automobile with an acceptable driving record as determined by St. Mary's University. Must be able and willing to travel long distances if needed, by airplane and by automobile.
